Abstract
A cycle of eight anthems for progressively expanding forces (1 voice to 8 voices), together exploring a panintervallic structural principle where the interval content systematically expands through the cycle. The work generates new knowledge in the application of serial-derived pitch organisation within a tonal/modal sacred music context, demonstrating that rigorous structural processes can produce music of immediate liturgical functionality and emotional accessibility. The progressive, though non-linear, expansion from solo to octet creates a meta-structure that is itself a research finding – demonstrating how systematic formal constraints can generate large-scale coherence across independent movements.
