Abstract
The Jubilee Edition presents a remastered and reworked version of the 2011 Jerusalem-Yerushalayim oratorio-musical recording, incorporating a new remix that integrates David Suchet’s narration (not part of the original release) and an extra saxophone solo commentary on one key movement (by the same soloist as in the ‘Daring Eagles Mix’ of Re-New). The editorial and production decisions involved in revisiting a large-scale recorded work after a decade – rebalancing and re-contextualising the narrator’s role within the musical architecture – generate new knowledge about how the same source material can yield distinct artistic and communicative outcomes through production practice. The Jubilee Edition and subsequent Coral Remix (available with and without narration) is not merely a remaster but a fresh and up-to-date reading of the work.
