Abstract
This album documents a specific strand of The Song Company’s repertoire under the researcher’s artistic direction, presenting twenty new Australian works selected, prepared, and performed as part of the ensemble’s national touring programme. The research contribution lies in the curatorial methodology – the rationale for selecting, juxtaposing, and programming these particular works as a coherent live program and album, alongside a dozen miniatures from each of the prior 12 centuries, and the performance practice decisions (edition choices, vocal production, ensemble balance) that reflect the researcher’s systematic approach to ensemble direction. The album provides audible evidence of how artistic directorial decisions translate into specific sonic outcomes across a programme of varied repertoire.
