Abstract
A collaborative album with Indigenous composers and singers, Elizabeth Sheppard and Sonya Holowell, exploring the intersection of classical vocal production and singer-composer practice in a unique musical and dramatic setting of texts from the Uluru Statement from the Heart. The research contribution lies in the direct intersection between Aboriginal and Western creative and performance methodologies, as well as the production methodology – applying the researcher’s BBC and classical production experience to a recording of a live performance, testing whether the values of classical production (clarity, balance, textual fidelity) enhance or constrain a wide range of musical idioms.
