Abstract

C.S. Lewis's classic masterpiece, was adapted for the stage by Hailey and saw its first professional performance in Sydney in October 2015. Two extra performances were added to the season due to unprecedented demand. The Screwtape Letters follows the correspondence between a senior demon, Screwtape, and his nephew, a junior tempter named Wormwood, whose task it is to secure the damnation of a young man known as The Patient. Screwtape has been in the tempting business a long time, and he'll be damned (well, he IS damned) if his nephew stuffs up his career by letting The Patient turn to good rather than evil. Dedicated to Lewis' friend and colleague J.R.R. Tolkien, The Screwtape Letters is the most engaging account of temptation, and triumph over it, ever written. Directed and adapted by Hailey McQueen to national critical review.
